GLOBALLY UNIFIED NETBALL!
Eyeball Nations charity sector, Globally Unified Netball (GUN), is about to expand in a BIG way. In conjunction with Caroline O'Brien from Australian Group Travel, GUN has an invitation from Hong Kong to take 2 lucky netball teams in 2011 for a netball experience like no other. This will be just the first of such overseas netball experiences for GUN. Utilising netballers Passion with Action there will be a philanthropic edge to the trip and the teams will experience not only netball, shopping and cultural experiences but a predetermined humanitarian project. Its all VERY exciting so KEEP WATCHING THIS SPACE...!!! Who will be the first teams to say 'We are GUN Netballers!"?
To Market, to Market...
Eyeball Nation spent last Sunday in the Netball Shop tent at Muswellbrook Netball Carnival (country NSW) and just like last year, we had a great time. This has been our first carnival for the year - its been so rainy! - but the country teams always have a great carnival, with excited winners and determined runner-ups. Thank you for your country hospitality, your wonderful personalities and open friendliness. See you all next year!

Australian Men's and Mixed Netball Championships 2010
Visiting the Australian Mens and Mixed Netball Championships staged, this year, at Oakleigh Recreation Centre, Melbourne, Victoria was an unforgettable experience. I went expecting good netball from fine young players but ended up with so much more. The mens speed, skill level and energy were just amazing and their passion for this great sport was more than evident in the respect for the rules, their well-planned game strategies and true sportsmanship and mateship. I was astounded by the mens strength in the air, their 'hang-time', which may traditionally be a basketball skill but used in a netball arena is a visually exciting addition to the game. I recommend anyone who loves to watch elite level womens netball to visit an elite level mens game. I left Oakleigh Recreation Centre convinced that Netball was still, and will remain, a female dominant sport but the men athletes add a sparkle that left me enlivened for the future of men in netball. Taking it to the World
Caroline OBrien from Australian Group Travel Company has some wicked ideas about Netball Travel. AGTC manages many cultural netball tours around the world per year and each one comes away a success story. I was lucky enough to take a group of talented teen netballers to Singapore on one of her fabulous tours and Caroline was available 24/7 (even with the time differences) for any questions from the group or the parents back home.
This year she prepares to do the same with school netball tours to Canada and New Zealand and Eyeball Nation will be designing the teams T's and hoodies which they can then keep as mementos of their fantastic cultural and sporting experience. They will have a GREAT time, Caroline will make sure of that!
