When I was a 7 years of age I was so drawn to play netball I disobeyed all my parents protective warnings and instead of taking the school bus home as usual I wandered down to the local park to join a netball team. Luckily a caring mother phoned my (now frantic) mother to explain where I was and encouraged her to allow me to join.
30 playing years later, I gave myself a 3 year break and then decided to get back into netball to take up coaching. I was concerned that my young, enthusiastic team and other girls in the club were wearing all kinds of coastal-cultural apparel and sport brands but nothing that truly represented netball. My disappointment was further enhanced on a shopping spree to update my own lacking, netball training wardrobe. Where was all the netball gear? I knew how much netball had empowered me from a shy young girl, through the mixed-up, trying-to-belong teenage years, to a business woman and I wanted my young charges to embrace their love of their sport the same way I did.
Inspired by my renewed love of this amazing and strong game, I setout to create wearable designs that made women, girls and men proud to be netballers, show it and be empowered by it!
I understand what it is to be a netballer whether a player, a coach, an umpire, an administrator or even a netballer parent. Eyeball Nation is where there is a coming together of a like-minded family of people, caring for each other in sport, the world community and sharing a vision – all working as a team.
Eyeball Nation not only lights a netballers passion for their sport through distinctively designed leisure gear but also encourages compassion on a world scale through our association with the charity group, Watoto, and the respectfully-designed philanthropic Netball Tours on offer through Globally Unified Netball, Eyeball Nation's charity sector.
Its all about love. Hopefully it shows.
